I have the honor of presenting to you a guitar that famed luthier Stephan Connor built for me which was finished in November of 2023. While this guitar is unavailable, Stephan will be building instruments for my shop from time to time, so please write if you'd like to reserve the next!
Stephan Connor has established himself as one of the most sought after luthiers in the world for his world-class instruments which have been chosen by professionals all around the world. The Assad brothers, Eliot Fisk, Marco Tamayo, Anabel Montesinos, Scott Tennant, Angel Romero and many others constantly choose to play Connor guitars in their concerts around the world. Countless young professionals are also choosing his instruments.
Connor guitars have been known for many years now for being outstanding lattice braced guitars, that are both very bold and powerful, but also woody, colorful sounding, and aesthetically beautiful.
In recent years, Stephan Connor has been building some double top guitars that are equally, if not more convincing than his "standard" model. They feature the responsiveness that doubletop guitars often bring, while still maintaining the "Connor" sound that his instruments are known for: tons of power, sustain, color, and outstanding playability.
This instrument also features a removable "tornavoz" - device, usually made from either wood or brass that is fit inside the soundhole. This lowers the main air resonance of the guitar and produces a bigger, deeper sound in the bass. I personally have found it to be fascinating and inspiring to experiment with. Also, with the signature Connor guitars magnetic sound port cover, you have near endless options as a player to achieve the sound you're looking for. This is something that I hope Stephan continues to make!!
This guitar is named "Petra" and I have to believe it's named after the historic archeological site in Jordan, that is believed to be the home of a civilization from 300 BC, because the spectacular set of Madagascar Rosewood near-matches the color of the city!
Specs:
Cedar doubletop
Madagascar Rosewood back and sides
Raised Fingerboard
640mm scale
52.5mm nut width
Removable Tornavoz
Ironwood saddle + Bone saddle
Magnetic soundport cover
Again, while this guitar is unavailable, Stephan will be building instruments for my shop from time to time, so please write if you'd like to reserve the next!
