If you've been following my site and videos for a little while now, you'll know that I have had some of the best and most famous doubletops in the world. This Dake Traphagen from 2013, with a Cedar/Balsa/Cedar doubletop with 250+ year old Brazilian Rosewood (CITIES paperwork included) is simply one of the best instruments I've played recently.
While I've played some traditional, and lattice braced guitars of Dake's this is my first experience with his doubletops. I have to ask... are they ALL like this, or is this one particularly special with these spectacular woods and 11 years now of age? I have no idea, but I'll let the video and recording speak for itself.
Simply put, this thing is a dark, powerful beast, that brightens up when you push it. The sustain is absolutely off the charts and it's mostly coming from the fundamental.. again, watch the video.
This guitar is in great condition for its age. Nail marks here and there, one string ding below the bridge. No dents, or cracks. Certainly not mint condition, but if you wanted it that way, a simple french polish touch up would do.
Specs:
Cedar Doubletop (balsa interior)
250+ year old Brazilian Rosewood with CITIES paperwork
650mm scale
52mm nut
58mm string spacing at bridge
Gotoh Tuners
Hiscox case
